{"id":121,"date":"2010-05-01T00:00:49","date_gmt":"2010-05-01T01:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/somethingfromnowhere.com\/?p=121"},"modified":"2013-12-12T11:16:59","modified_gmt":"2013-12-12T12:16:59","slug":"carol-contemplates-exhibited-in-hatched-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/somethingfromnowhere.com\/?p=121","title":{"rendered":"CAROL CONTEMPLATES EXHIBITED IN HATCHED 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Feeling very privileged\u00a0to be chosen for the PICA (Perth Institute of Contemporary Art) <em>Hatched<\/em> exhibition this year \u2013 an annual showcase of selected works from art colleges all around Australia.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Carol Contemplates\" href=\"https:\/\/somethingfromnowhere.com\/?portfolio=art\"><em>Carol<\/em><\/a> was carefully packaged up in a giant\u00a0<em>Raider&#8217;s of the Lost Ark<\/em> style crate by the good marketing people at Sydney College of the Arts, and shipped to the other side of Australia.<\/p>\n<p>I did not make my way over in a crate, but arrived in one piece just the same. With husband in tow, we took PICA up on their kind offer of an insider art tour of Perth, discovered some of the city&#8217;s most secretive small bars and attended the main event: <em>Hatched\u00a0<\/em>opening night.<\/p>\n<p>The populace of Perth must have shown up that night too, as PICA&#8217;s substantial gallery spaces and corridors writhed with people. This did nothing to quell my opening night stage fright which manifested itself in a stand-off situation with my designated name tag. Several sparkling wines later, I managed to give in to the intensity and slapped on the giant sticker.
